The first law states that energy can be neither created nor destroyed. All machines work on first law of thermodynamics. An example of this is a light bulb. A light bulb transforms electrical energy into light and heat energy.

When something is on fire, we pour water because, according to the second law, heat from the fire (high temperature) will flow to the water (lower temperature).
