Species are named scientifically using the method termed as the "Binomial Naming System".

Scientists follow a "set of rules to name plants and animals" and they are known as the "binomial naming system"."Binomial" means "made up of two words" and it describes the genus and the species of the organism. The "first word" is the "genus", which is capitalized and the "second word" is the "species" which is not capitalized. Genus is the "name of small groups" of "closely interacted organisms" and species is used to identify the particular species in that same genus. For example, the "scientific name" for humans is "Homo sapiens", where Homo is the genus which is capitalized and sapiens is the species. The abbreviation for this group is H. sapiens.
