In class we also talked about the metabolism of hdl particles.

a. the metabolism of hdl involves the formation of immature hdl particles in the liver.
b. these immature hdl particles (nascent hdl) contain only a small amount of cholesterol and no cholesteryl esters.
c. as hdl particles circulate through the bloodstream, they are transformed into mature hdl particles by picking up extra cholesterol from cholesterol-rich extrahepatic cells.
d. this process is called reverse cholesterol transport.
e. the number of mature hdl particles in circulation is inversely proportional to cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis.
describe the basis of this inverse relationship.

Simulating adaptations in a species in this activity, you will discuss in detail the adaptations in a species of rain forest plants. you will build a simulation that explains the changes in the traits of the plant population over 10 years. you will also establish a scientific explanation to justify the changes in the traits of the population, * time to complete: 1-2 hours part a an organism's adaptations are specific to its native environment. an organism that lives in a coniferous forest will have different adaptations compared to an animal that lives in a tropical rain forest. the following graphs show the temperature and precipitation throughout the year for two different forests: a coniferous forest in canada, and a tropical rain forest in belize. evaluate the graphs, and then explain why plants from these two ecosystems will have different adaptations. in your answer, explain the survival challenges that plants face in these two environments.

The empty trna moves off and picks up another matching amino acid from the cytoplasm in the cell. the anticodon of the trna, with its attached amino acid, pairs to the codon of the mrna, which is attached to a ribosome. this sequence is repeated until the ribosome reaches a stop codon on the mrna, which signals the end of protein synthesis. the ribosome forms a peptide bond between the amino acids, and an amino acid chain begins to form. when a second trna with its specific amino acid pairs to the next codon in sequence, the attached amino acid breaks from the first trna and is bonded to the amino acid of the second trna.
