The working of a human eye is similar to a camera. The function of the various parts is:Cornea: Its a thin membrane through which light enters. The transparent bulge in front of the eye is made by the cornea. The light first gets refracted at the outer surface of the cornea.Eyeball: Its diameter is around 2.3 cm. It is protected by the sclera, the white part of the eye.Iris: It is a dark colored structure like a diaphragm which is present behind the cornea. It regulates the size of the pupil.Pupil: It's function is to control the amount of light that enters the eye.Lens: It is situated behind the pupil and focuses light on the retina.Retina: It is an inner lining present in the back of the eye and is light sensitive. It contains light sensitive cells called rods and cones which are photo receptors. The cones which are present in the center of the retina help in visualizing color.The rods allow us to see in dim light.The eye lens forms a real and inverted image on the retina. The photo receptors get activated on receiving light and generate electrical signals which are interpreted by the brain.
