Deforestation: It is a phenomenon in which landmass is cleared by removing vegetation to meet the demands of growing human population. Deforestation results in reduced habitat for other organisms thus their diversity and abundance decrease overtime in that particular area. If deforestation continues, it will lead to the elimination of many plant and animal species from the Earth's surface.

Greenhouse gases: Excessive burning of fossil fuel to meet energy demands leads to increased production of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. This increasing proportion of the gases is causing Earth's climate to become warmer. Hence, many species that have not developed heat-tolerant mechanisms will not be able to survive in the long run and can threaten biodiversity.

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs): Production of GMOs is also a threat to biodiversity because GMOs gain the competitive advantage of survival with respect to other plants and animal species. They compete well for nutrients and use resources of other species as well. In the end, other species cannot survive and eliminated in the long run.
