How will water volume, incline gradient, and temperature affect the energy
of a stream?

• Water Volume: The volume of water(discharge) in a stream affects the energy(velocity) of that stream. As the volume of the water in the stream increases, the velocity increases. Due to the high velocity of the increased volume of water, it is capable of causing more erosion, resulting in a wider, deeper river channel that allows water to flow more freely.

• Incline gradient: The incline gradient is also known as the slope of the stream. It refers to how steep its slope is; this also has a significant effect on the velocity of a stream. When a stream flows down a steep slope, the gravitational force that pulls the water downward is stronger than it would be on water flowing down a gentle slope, resulting in the stream having a higher level of velocity.
