My weight: 130
To calculate your protein need for a day: put weight into kilograms, record a day's worth of food and drink, and then analyze your protein intake. All three areas must be completed to receive the total points.
1. Show and put your pound weight into kilograms. Show your calculations.
Your weight divided by 2.2 to get kilograms. (Remember to move over the decimal.)
The DRI recommendations for adults is 0.8 grams of protein/kilogram of body weight/day. Body weight in kilograms x 0.8 gram protein/kilogram of body weight is proteins a day.
2. Record a day's worth of all your food and drink intakes in a table/chart. List the meal, all food in each meal, serving size of food, protein grams for each food. Put all foods even if there are no proteins. Check internet if needed for protein amount in food. Write the total of your protein intake for the day.
3. Analyze your protein intake. Was it higher or lower than the DRI recommendation for a day? If it was higher, suggest ways to lower it; if it was lower, suggest ways to raise it.
