Apocalypse Instructions

You will be creating a slide presentation or a poster about how your group would survive an apocalypse. Your teacher will give you a grade based on whether they think you/your group would survive after a year (12 months).

- The main focus would be the location, food (nutrition) and water sources you pick.
- Each slide should have your justification (reasons) for the decisions your group made (no paragraphs, only bullet points please).
- Include images for each slide. Aerial images from Google Maps are useful.
- You may work in groups of 3 (max). The more people you have, the more food you need to find. You may work alone, but your decisions have to be made carefully since surviving alone may be harder in the long term.
- All other details and creativity put into this are part of your points and can help or hinder your survival. Realistic expectations will be applied to the grading of your project.

From this unit so far, you should know how much work goes into getting the food you enjoy. Making compromises, such as eating foods that are easy to grow, is expected.

Example; Apples grow from trees which take years to grow. Potatoes do not take as long. The nutrition value of both foods are important for survival, though.

Step 1 Location
Go to “Apocalypse Scenario - Pick your Path”
You must first choose the location where you want to start your homestead.
You must use the scenario given as part of your justification for location.
List your reasons for picking such a location. Include images in your project to help us understand. See “Apocalypse Survival Project” example on classroom for help.
You must make decisions in order to survive for 1 year.
We are starting this project in the time frame of it being March 6th
Your teacher may allow you to find certain resources if you ask the right questions.
Step 2 FOOD
Use the assignment “Apocalypse Food” for reference of which foods would be most beneficial for your group. You need protein, carbs, vitamins and fat. Include, why you pick the food you pick.
You need a garden (this is what you’re surviving off). Based on your location, where would that garden be located? How would you water it? (see step 3)
You may find your starter seeds/plants/animals, but again, you need realistic justification for how/where you find it. Explore the areas around your location carefully.
You must make decisions in order to survive for 1 year.
You must use the scenario given as part of your justification for location.
We are starting this project in the time frame of it being March 6th. This is important for the types of foods you can grow at this time of year. When justifying the food you pick, be sure to reference the growing time and season of such food.
Your teacher may allow you to find certain resources if you ask the right questions.
Include images in your project to help us understand.

Step 3 WATER
Use Google or your discussion board for ideas on how you/ your group obtain water to survive for a year.
Realistic expectations will be applied to the grading of your project.
You need to water your plants and animals (if you have any) so make sure you have enough for them.
Generally, you need about a gallon a day. That does not include cooking or bathing.
Your teacher may allow you to find certain resources if you ask the right questions.
Include images in your project to help us understand.

Rules & Things that should be mentioned at some point in your presentation.
You have 30 miles of gas in your car for the entire year.
You “find” (with justification) the foods you need to survive.
What type of food? How many people does that food feed? What is the nutritional value of that food?
Include how you would cook food (no electricity)
Include how you would bathe (no running water)
Optional & Advanced: You may leave (& stay away) from the scenario locations but then cannot benefit from anything in the scenario itself (like food). Include how you would get there and the resources you would need for your journey. You only have 30 miles of gas in your car.
