Humans have come to think of bacteria as harmful pathogens that always do harm. However, this is not always the case. Based on the nitrogen cycle, explain why farmers are dependent on bacteria for their crops and what would happen if farmers were able to remove all bacteria from their soil?

Explanation: Bacteria are microscopic single cell organism.

For farmers Bacterial are important tools in Nitrogen cycle. It helps in Fixing of nitrogen into the soil in the root noodles of some leguminous crop.Bacterial contains Nitrogenous enzyme the combines with atmospheric Nitrogen to fix ammonia which is further converted to other organic compounds and Nitrogen.

Bacterial also act on dead plant and animal converting the inorganic Nitrogen to ammonia which is further broken down to Nitrogen.

Some important bacterial include Nitrogen Fixing bacterial,Azotobacter

Without the activity of bacteria Nitrogen level or concentration would be reduced and not available for plant uptake.
