Scientists were investigating a pond of water found deep in a South American cave
along the Yucatan Penisula. The obtained many samples which they took back to their
lab. After much testing, they found that the water has an acidic pH of 3. Another much
more surprising discovery was that a new species of unicellular organism was present
in the samples. The organism was observed with a microscope and found to not have a
bound nucleus or organelles. To which Domain would this organism be classified?
a) Archaea
b)Bacteria
c)Eukarya
d)Protista

Recent research by marine biologists suggests that bottlenose dolphins have names for themselves. scientists played sounds they had identified as the names of particular dolphins, putting them through a synthesizer so that they did not sound like the voices of particular dolphins. the researchers found that dolphins would respond to the names of other dolphins that they were related to or associated with, but they ignored the names of strangers. this discovery suggests a much greater degree of self-awareness in aquatic mammals than was previously suspected. if this research holds up, what does it suggest about dolphins?

(me out over the last several centuries, scientists have made the following broad observations while investigating several branches of the life sciences: -the fossil record shows that different types of organisms have existed at different times in earth's history. -many organisms have similar body structures that seem to be adapted to different ways of living in their environment. -organisms of different species often share similarities in stages of embryonic development. -many species share genetic similarities, and almost all organisms use the same basic building blocks to construct proteins. -often, the extent of two species' similarities can be predicted from their geographic closeness to each other. -a great deal of change has been observed among species that have experienced strong selective pressures through many generations. scientists have carefully considered and rigorously tested the observations listed above. when scientists offer a of these observations, they are making 1.) testable explanation, deductive explanation 2.) scientific interference, scientific law
