How does dna get into new cells

DNA is hereditary material that lies within the nucleus of all cells in living organisms, so when cells divide (Either through mitosis or meiosis) they get the DNA of their parent cell.

So a skin cell won't divide to make a lung cell, it'll divide to make a skin cell.
