1. On a field trip to two local ponds, a group of students observed a difference between the two ponds in the diversity of worms and insect larvae living in the mud and debris near the edges of the ponds. Numerous factors, both biotic and abiotic, influence the distribution of aquatic organisms. The students decided that they would investigate some of the abiotic factors. 1a) List three water-quality tests that could be conducted and explain what information each test provides. Animal bodies (and even plant bodies for that matter) are complex enough that life couldn't exist without enzymes. enzymes are usually large, complex biological catalysts that are expensive to make. enzymes speed up the rate of chemical reactions without being used up during the reaction (they can be reused many times). they are highly specific in the reactions they regulate. knowing what enzymes are and how they function, why does this explain why complex life forms could not exist if there were no enzymes.
