Contrary to Dalton hypothesis that says that atoms are indivisible, it has now been discovered that atoms are actually divisible. Each atom of an element is made up of three sub atomic particles, which are protons, neutrons and electrons. The protons and the neutrons are located in the nucleus of the atom while the electrons orbit round the nucleus. The proton is positively charged, the electron is negatively charged and the neutron has no charge.
