Bullock’s and Baltimore Orioles interbreed where their range overlaps, and hybrids are viable and fertile. However, hybrids also molt twice a year, unlike either parental species, which molts only once per year. Molting is energetically expensive. Using two species concepts that we discussed in class, explain whether Bullock’s and Baltimore Orioles are the same species or different species.
