What did Darwin believe?

Charles Darwin believed in the theory of evolution by means of natural selection. This is seen in his study of the finches on the Galapagos Islands in 1835. While travelling from island to island, he notices the finches, though similar, have different sized beaks. He bases this on what they eat and how they hunt their food.
