osmosis is responsible for the ability of plants roots to draw water from the soil.

Explanation: osmosis is simpliy the ability of a water to pass thourgh a semipermiable membrane from a region of low concentration to a regin of high concentration, so plants concentrates solutes in their root cells by active transport and water enters the roots though osmosis.
