How are bacteria (prokaryotes) different from eukaryotes?

Prokaryotes are different from eukaryotes in a number of ways.
1. In prokaryotes the genetic material is not encased within a membrane
2. Prokaryotes have a singular loop of DNA while in eukaryotes, DNA is organised into chromosomes
3. Prokaryotes also have a small molecule of DNA called a plasmid, which can reproduce independently
4. Prokaryotes are much less complex than eukaryotes. In fact, prokaryotes are referred to as simple cells while eukaryotes are referred to as complex cells
5. Prokaryotes do not have mitochondria, nor many other organelles that eukaryotes have
