PROBLEM STATEMENT: A fruit export company has been losing 20% of their crop and harvesting due to diseases which affect the stored fruit. A supervisor was asked to investigate the matter. He reported that many of the diseased fruit also have bruises obtained during harvesting. He suggested that mechanical damage increases the chances of the fruits becoming diseased. Plan and design an investigation to determine the effect of mechanical damage during harvesting on the rate of disease susceptibility. What is the hypothesis and variables of this experiment?
