What role of ethics play in the study of science?

Ethics in general means the moral principles of an individual which rules the mind of an individual and tells him/her about the good or bad.

Ethics play a very important role in science, like there should not be any biased research and also there should be honest reporting of data. If the data is copied or used from any other research done by other scientist then one must provide the credit of sourcing of information. There are many chemicals which are made by the researchers which are very useful for the mankind but on the same hand those can be also used as a weapon and used for mass destruction of mankind, so it is all upto the moral or ethics of the individual.

the "dirty dozen" chemicals banned in an international treaty are formally known as persistent organic pollutants, or pops. the united nations environment program provided this background on what they are and what they can do to humans and wildlife.
