Does plants lose/gain water during turgor pressure? How does it benefit the plant?

Plant cells need turgor pressure to maintain their rigidity and sturdiness. This is what gives a plant the ability to grow and stand tall. When the concentration of solutes is higher outside the cell, the plant cell loses water and the plant wilts.Turgor is what makes living plant tissue rigid. Loss of turgor, resulting from the loss of water from plant cells, causes flowers and leaves to wilt.
