This item has two parts. First answer Part A. Then answer Part B. (2 points) Read the passage below. Then answer the questions that follow.
Viruses have long been considered nonliving because they are simply bits of genetic material surrounded by a protein coat. They do not obtain or use energy
on their own, and they do not have the ability to reproduce on their own. They must first infect a host cell before any of these signs of life emerge. However,
new scientific evidence that examines the protein folds created by viruses is beginning to create additional controversy in the scientific community about the
appropriate classification for viruses. Additionally, because viruses are made of organic compounds, it is still argued that they might share an evolutionary
history with the rest of life on Earth.
Part A
According to the text, which of the following could be used as evidence to support the hypothesis that viruses are living things?
Viruses are similar in size to cells.
Viruses are made of organic compounds.
Viruses have a large amount of DNA held inside a nucleus.
Viruses that behave like cells have been discovered by scientists.
