TRANSCRIPTION AND TRANSLATION

Transcription is the process whereby a gene in a DNA template is used to synthesize a messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule in the nucleus of the cell. This process of transcription occurs with the aid of an enzyme called rna polymerase, which adds the nucleotides complementary to the one it reads in the gene to the growing mRNA strand. Translation, on the other hand, is the second process of gene expression involving the synthesis of proteins from the mRNA sequence. This process occurs in the ribosome where a group of three nucleotides in the mRNA called codon is read by another group of complementary nucleotide in the transfer RNA (tRNA) called anticodon. The tRNA then carries amino acids corresponding to what is read in the codon to the growing polypeptide chain.

Atp is is our little "pocket" of energy. of course, if you have too little, then it means you have too little energy, and you'll pass out. the way to not have enough, is to have no energy sources (glucose, fats, proteins). you can't have too many atp molecules. cycles like the krebs cycle produce it, but if you have too much of any substrate (or too little for that matter), the cycle stops and atp is no longer made (it stops until substrate levels are such that the process can go on). in any case, this is unlikely since atp is constantly hydrolyzed and remade, even while you're asleep. you won't have too much. if you have zero, you are dead or dying.
