This may cause both the prey and native species to begin to die off, and if the prey goes extinct because of this, the native species will as well, unless they somehow adapt. Not only this, the brown tree snake is known for causing frequent power outages by climbing on electrical wires. They are the cause of the loss of 9 out of 11 forest birds native to Coco's island. They are causing a serious decline in birds, rodents, lizards, and even bats in Guam.
