Read the steps below about how a reflex occurs. Which step does not belong? Sense receptors react to something, such as touching something hot. A nerve ending is stimulated and sends a signal up a nerve. The signal enters the spinal cord through a dorsal connection. The signal is sent to the brain and interpreted. A message is sent to the muscles. The muscles are stimulated and move in response.

the oxygenated blood then leaves the lungs through pulmonary veins, which return it to the left heart, completing the pulmonary cycle. this blood then enters the left atrium, which pumps it through the mitral valve into the left ventricle. from the left ventricle, the blood passes through the aortic valve to the aorta.

deoxygenated blood leaves through the right ventricle through the pulmonary artery. from the right atrium, the blood is pumped through the tricuspid valve (or right atrioventricular valve), into the right ventricle.

straight probes are used primarily for measuring flow as it is approaching the test area. its geometry allows the probe to be mounted so that it is in the direct line of airflow.
