Mitosis is a process where a single cell divides once into two identical daughter cells (cell division). The major purpose of mitosis is for growth and to replace worn out cells.

It has 4 parts, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase.

Prophase: The chromosomes condense into X-shaped structures that can be easily seen under a microscope.

Metaphase: The chromosomes line up neatly end-to-end along the centre of the cell.

Anaphase: The sister chromatids are then pulled apart by the spindle fibers. Each spindle fiber pulls one chromatid towards the opposite poles.

Telophase: At each pole of the cell a full set of chromosomes gather together. Membrane surrounds each pair forming a new cell

first, as you point out, it would be a great advance in pharmacology, to be able to tailor drugs and their doses to me. the pros involve better medical treatment. the cons involve privacy issues like insurance companies denying coverage to people with genetic risk factors. looking at dna markers wouldn't affect the frequency of genetic diseases, but it would allow detection of them earlier. and ok, actually i suppose that if people used this information to avoid having children with genetic diseases, some might decrease in frequency."
