During metaphase the chromosomes move to the equator of the cell. why should they lie in the equator of the cell

buddy this equator is also called metaphase plate and the chromosomes aline here so that they can divide into equal halves also

If the duplicate chromosomes do not pair properly at the metaphase plate, they will not move properly to each pole during anaphase the next phase .
