Hey There!__________________________________________________________________________White Blood Cells:

WBCs are irregular, nucleated cells which are less numerous than the RBCs. They are formed in bone marrow, spleen and thymus also in lymph nodes. They are short life cells they live for about 20-30 hours. There are two types of WBCs.

- Granulocytes (they have granules in cytoplasm)

- Agranulocytes (they do not have granules in their cytoplasm)

Monocytes and Lymphocytes come under this category

- Monocytes transform into macrophages and contributes is innate immune system as Phagocytes

- Lymphocytes include natural killer cells, T cells, and B cells. They contribute in immunity by destroying the virally infected own cells of the body and in inflammation.

Neutrophils, Eosinophils and Basophils come under this category.

Neutrophils - Contribute in immunity as Phagocytes just like monocytes. Their cytoplasm is granulated and they have 3 lobed nucleus.

Eosinophils - Contribute in immunity as Anti-histamine. Anti-histamine reduces the affect of histamine. Their cytoplasm is granulated and have nucleus with 2 lobes

Basophils - Contribute in immunity as Cell that produce histamine and heparin. Histamine causes many of the symptoms of allergies, such as a runny nose or sneezing. Heparin prevents the blood clotting. Their cytoplasm is granulated and have nucleus of single lobe of U-shape.
