Why is it that native species cannot complete with invasive species

Invasive species begin to eat the food of the native species and most of the time they eat the native species! The invasive species begin to grow and reproduce at rates the native species can’t keep up with and eventually the invasive species takes up the habitat and space for the native species. A great example of this would be the invasive of the Burmese Python in the Florida Everglades.
