Modeling clay is a very useful tool because it can be shaped and formed to look like the various cell parts and organelles. It can also be colored or painted to differentiate between cell parts. By creating a model and having the ability to visualize the parts and cell organelles, one can better understand the functioning of the cell itself. The model can also be helpful in answering specific questions about the cell such as scale of organelles, proximity to each other and appearance of various structures.
