Suppose a farmer wishes to evaluate a new fertilizer. Her hypothesis is that the new fertilizer will be more effective that her current one, and will result in healthier, taller plants. She uses the new fertilizer on her corn field (Field 1), while using her current fertilizer on her soybean field (Field 2). Both fields are the same size, have the same type of soil, and get roughly the same amount of water and sunlight. After the growing season, the farmer notes that indeed, the corn crop in Field 1 seems to be healthier than the soybean crop in Field 2. She concludes that the new fertilizer is far superior than the old one. Was the farmer's experiment an effective test of her hypothesis
