The majority of life on the planet is based on a food chain which revolves around sunlight, as plants make food via photosynthesis.. Chemosynthesis occurs in bacteria and other organisms and involves the use of energy released by inorganic chemical reactions to produce food

Photosynthesis happens with plants on the earth’s surface where sunlight is abundant. Chemo synthesis can happen in the deep sea or places where there is an absence of sunlight. In both food webs, the primary sources both produce energy. A chemosynthetic food web often starts at a sea vent, with chemical energy. Photosynthetic plants get their energy from sunlight, while chemosynthetic bacteria will get their energy from sea vents. The difference is really in the beginning when it comes to where the primary producer gets their energy!
