We asked whether skunks were more common in rural or suburban areas in North Carolina. To address this question, we counted the number of road kills that showed up along cight sections of rural roads and cight sections of suburban roads. Each of the 16 sections of road was 40 miles long and volunteers traveled them daily during the month of August
