The semi-permeable membrane is a type of membrane which allows only to pass solute molecules. The flow of water from a high concentration to a low concentration is called osmosis.

According to the image, we can predict that the concentration of a solute on both sides of a semi-permeable membrane at 15 seconds will be equal on both sides (60/60) since the equilibrium reached at 10 seconds is maintained.

This condition is stated as an isotonic solution.

When a solute exists in different concentrations on both sides of a semipermeable membrane.

The solute will be pushed from the place of higher concentration to the place of lower concentration, following a concentration gradient.

Particle movement in this case will stop when equilibrium has been reached, i.e. when the solute has the same concentration on both sides of the membrane.  

In the second 10, the concentrations on both sides were already equal, equilibrium had been reached and the concentration gradient disappears.
