Explanation:

As we know, one parent has this medical condition gene, and the other does not. If both parents had it, it would most likely that all of their children will get it, but since one doesn't have it, the gene has a 50/50 chance on spreading to the offspring or not. It also has a lot to do with the grandparents as there was probably a 25% or 50% chance that the parent with sickle cell gene got it from their parents.
