Worldview Sleuthing: Dinosaur Train
Do you ever watch kids cartoons? Maybe you’re too embarrassed to admit it! Even something as harmless as a cartoon can shape a child’s worldview. In this sleuthing activity, you will critically analyze a children’s cartoon series called DInosaur Train. Here’s your chance to watch TV for homework!
Introduction
What kind of kids do you interact with-- younger siblings, church kids, neighborhood kids? Get an idea of how the media can influence these kids toward a naturalistic, atheistic worldview by using two things that little kids love: dinosaurs and trains.
Task
Dinosaur Train is a cartoon that airs on PBS. This cartoon is aimed at preschool children. Your task is to write a 150-200 word review of an episode of Dinosaur Train, examining the scientific claims and worldview content and analyzing it from a biblical perspective.
Procedure
Watch the one episode in class. Have a sheet of paper and a pen with you to make notes as we go.
Jot down all the scientific claims during the program. After it is done, go back and read the claims and analyze them from the perspective that you’ve gained in this chapter.
Do a keyword search using the words “Dinosaur Train” to read about the series.
