Why is one X-chromosome silent in females where both the X and the Y remain active in males? The X chromosomes contain exactly the same info so you only need one.

The X chromosome are exactly the same and you only need to use one at a time. The other one gets turned on later.

The X and Y chromosomes contain the same info but are used differently.

X and Y chromosomes contain different information so both need to remain active.
