How is a fungus different from a plant?

A fungus is different from a plant because a fungus doesn't have the ability to make its own food by photosynthesis. It also has walls made of chitin (also found in insects), not cellulose as in plants. Fungi also reproduce by making spores that can be carried away by wind, water, or insects. There are many types of fungi, ranging from single celled yeasts, to large mushrooms. Some fungi can cause disease in people, but most are beneficial because they are decomposes.

Fungus is heterotroph 'cause they depend on autotroph for their food whereas Plants are autotroph & they can prepare their own food with the help of Carbon dioxide, sunlight & water by the process of Photosynthesis.
