Explain why meiosis can’t happen without mitosis

Hi, now this is going to be a bit long, but I think it will help you understand:

Meiosis and Mitosis are two different things:

Meiosis is a process, in which it's a cell division- it has to do with gametes cells (sex cells)

Mitosis is a process, which is also a cell division, but it's an asexual reproduction. This process happens like for instance, you break your bone. So the cells act on this process (basically what mitosis does is they divide cells so it can heal.)

Now on to meiosis: Meiosis has many steps than mitosis. First it has to go through an interphase (please note that it's not part of meiosis stage, because it's before meiosis), which the DNA in the nucleus is duplicated. So  then it goes into PMAT (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase), after that it goes into cytokinesis (Also understand that it's also not part of meiosis as this stage happens after meiosis). But then, the chromosomes go again (so meiosis is a long process which goes into stages twice in order to get 4 cells total) . (This is referred to meiosis 2) So the chromosomes skip the interphase, and go into PMAT and then cytokinesis, which now you have 4 total. Why? Because on the first part, you get 2 cells, and then on the second, you again go through a process again.
