Explain how the elimination of a predator from an ecosystem might result in starvation amongst its prey species.

Predators are good because they eliminate overpopulation. For example, owls hunt mice and therefore there isn't too many mice. If there weren't any predators than there would be too many of the prey and there wouldn't be enough food for them all.
