Embryonic stem cells are the cells which are derived from the embryo. These cells develop as a product of fertilization under in vitro conditions. The egg taken from the female donor is fertilized with the sperm of the male donor under laboratory controlled conditions. These are pluripotent cells, which means they are able to differentiate, increase in number and transform into cell type to perform a specialized function.  These cells can decide their fate by either renewing themselves into another form or can further differentiate to increase in number.
