Nucleic acid includes DNA ( deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA ( ribonucleic acid). They are composed of small units called as nucleotides, which includes nitrogenous base, phosphate group, and a 5- carbon sugar ( deoxyribose in  DNA and ribose in RNA).

On the other hand, carbohydrates are large group of organic compounds, which are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

Thus, both contain carbon, but only nucleic acids contain phosphorous is the right answer.
