1. The animal dies, bacteria and fungus start to eat away at the carcass and let nutrients into ground.
2.Plants suck up nutrients and herbivores eat the plants, carnivore eats herbivore and the cycle continues
2. In terms of adaptation on surviving, only plants have to really adapt and survive on decomposition since that gives them a large part of their nutrients
