Amore or less circular ring of mushrooms appears in your yard, apparently overnight. the circle is several yards in diameter. the most likely explanation for this circle of mushrooms is that:

The mushrooms are actually all part of the same organism. They have mycelium, which is the vegetative part of the fungus consisting of branching hyphae, connected to and radiating from a single germinated spore.

Mitochondria produce atp, a high energy compound. atp is used for all sorts of enzyme-mediated reactions, such as making proteins/nucleotides/etc, certain compounds cross the cell membrane, muscles move, etc.  without this source of energy, a cell will die. it will not be able to repair itself, defend against pathogens, etc.
