Although, in general, science has advanced our standard of living tremendously, there is sometimes a "dark side" to science. give an example of the misuse of science and explain how this has had an adverse effect on our lives.

A good example of the dark side of science is the development of the internet. It was originally developed as a means of communication in the U.S. Army. It grew, expanded and what was once the territory of nerds, is now being used by almost everybody to find documentation, buy the things they want or to connect with other people. However, you can't deny that there is a dark side to the internet, online bullying and the fact that some people are glued to the screen of their cell phone and care more for their online life than their actual life. Online shopping had a devastating effect on the retail sector. Facebook turned its users into a product in order to sell their personal information to the advertising industry.
