An incandescent bulb heats a metallic filament while a fluorescent bulb excites a gas for producing glow. The amount of electricity consumed to heat the metallic filament is much higher than the electricity required to excite a gas with in the fluorescent bulb. Thus, on replacing incandescent bulbs with fluorescent bulbs , electricity consumption will reduce and hence the electricity bill of school will also reduce.
