A sputum sample was isolated from a patient with coughing and respiratory distress. The patient's temperature was normal at the time of the physical exam. The sample was sent to proquest labs and cultured in the presence of oxygen. The Gram-stain showed pink rods. An acid fast stain showed blue color rods.
