Bromeliads are native Florida plants that can grow on the shady floor of cypress swamps. When these cypress trees are removed for logging, the resulting intense sunlight on the leaves of bromeliads can damage the surface of its leaves. What would be the immediate effect to bromeliads if its leaves did not contain properly functioning stomata and guard cells ?
