CER. Scenario. In the 1970's, Peter and Rosemary Grant observed, tagged, and measured Darwin’s finches and their environment on the 100-acre island called Daphne Major in the Galápagos Islands. The Grants and their assistants observed the finches’ struggle for food (different types of seeds) that was dramatically influenced by changes in the weather from year to year. During their time on the Galápagos Islands, the Grants were particularly interested in the beak depth among Darwin’s finches. Beak depth is a heritable trait that varies randomly and allows for adaptations to changes in environmental niches. Finches with a greater beak depth are able to eat less-preferred, tougher seeds than the finches with a lesser beak depth are able to eat. The toughness of the seeds, which are the primary diet of finches, is directly related to the level of rainfall that the island receives that year—the higher the rainfall, the softer the seed. Prompt. The graphs are the results of the Grants’ data collection. The Grants have asked you to analyze these findings to present at an upcoming scientific conference. Analyze the data and provide a scientific explanation for the trends observed in the population of Darwin’s finches in relation to their beak size from 1976 to 1978. State your claim, evidence, and reasoning in an explicit format that is accessible to scientists as well as the layperson. (Additional task: In 1980, the average beak size decreased from the size in 1978. Provide an explanation for this phenomenon.) please i need help

Astudent sees several ants walking up a wall following the exact same trail that an ant took earlier. she wants to apply the scientific method to determine how the ants detected the trail. which of these steps would come first in her application of the scientific method? perform an experiment by cleaning the scent away from part of the trail. draw a conclusion that the ants follow a scent trail. make a prediction about what the ants will do after she cleans away part of the trail. hypothesize that the ants are following a scent trail that the first ant left.
