Recently discovered genetic evidence shows that multicellular land plants such as corn and wheat, are all of one lineage – they all arose from a single type of algae. Fossil evidence suggests that other types of algae did not have the needed complexity to move into terrestrial ecosystems. Explain at least 3 adaptations that algae would need to be able to survive on land.
