Nadie se atreve a decir con total seguridad si los dinosaurios se extinguieron de golpe o fueron desapareciendo a lo largo de

miles o millones de años y mucho menos se puede saber el por qué. Sin embargo, existen distintas teorías al respecto. La
más aceptada y famosa de todas ellas es que un meteorito gigante cayó sobre la Tierra en la zona del actual México y
provocó un temblor monumental. Por culpa de este impacto, se desencadenaron destructivos maremotos y fortísimos
vientos, además de que se levantó una brutal nube de polvo que cubrió durante meses el planeta, dejándolo
prácticamente a oscuras y mucho más frío, ya que el sol no podía iluminar la tierra. Los dinosaurios, a pesar de su
tamaño, no pudieron soportar tantos castigos y murieron por los impactos de los temblores y los vientos, por la bajada de
temperaturas o porque se quedaron sin alimento.
Otra de las teorías más conocidas es que se produjo un cambio climático. Los dinosaurios estaban adaptados para vivir
bajo temperaturas altas muy constantemente y tal vez su desaparición se debió a una progresiva bajada de las
temperaturas.
